Bhujangasana: Know the method, benefits and precautions


The Yoga Sutras are the basic texts of Yoga Philosophy. According to Patanjali, yoga is to prevent the tendencies of the mind from becoming fickle (chittavruttinirodhah). ... that is, to not allow the mind to wander here and there, to keep it fixed in only one thing is yoga.. They actually tell us how to live life and make us healthy from within.
One such posture is Bhujangasana, whose regular practice gives us many benefits. That is why in this article I will tell you about everything related to Bhujangasana, which we need to know before doing this asana.

What is Bhujangasana?


Bhujangasana is the 8th of the 12 asanas of Surya Namaskar. Bhujangasana is also known as Sarpasana, Cobra Asana or Snake Pose. In this posture the body forms the shape of a snake. This asana is done by lying on the ground and bending the back. While the head is in the position of the raised hood of the snake.


Know some important things before doing Bhujangasana
Bhujangasana should be practiced only on an empty stomach. You are allowed to have food atleast 3-4 hours before doing asana so that it gets sufficient time to get digested.The energy from the digested food will make it easier for you to do asanas.
The best time to practice Bhujangasana is in the morning. But if for some reason you are not able to do this asana in the morning, then you can practice this asana in the evening as well.

Know what is the method of doing Bhujangasana


1. Lie on the ground on your stomach. Keep both your palms near the thighs towards the ground. Make sure that your ankles keep touching each other

2) After this, bring both your hands equal to the shoulder and make both the palms towards the floor.

3) Now put the weight of your body on your palms, breathe in and lift your head and pull it towards the back. Note that by this time your elbow is bent.


4) After this, pull your head backwards and at the same time take your chest forward. Keep the head pulled like a snake's hood. But note that your shoulders should be away from the ears and the shoulders should remain strong

5) After this increase the pressure from your hips, thighs and feet towards the floor.

6) Keep the body in this position for about 15 to 30 seconds and keep the speed of breathing normal. Feel like your stomach is pressing towards the floor. After continuous practice, you can do this asana for 2 minutes.

7) To release this pose, slowly bring your hands back to the side. Rest your head on the floor. Keep your hands under your head. Afterwards, slowly turn your head to one side and breathe slowly for two minutes.

Cautions and Warnings


Bhujangasana should be practiced only if you do not have the following problems. 

Hernia
back injury
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Headaches
surgery in the lower abdomen


If you have started the practice of a new asana, then you should not try to complete this asana. If you do this then there is a very good chance that your back and neck pain will start.


During the asana, keep your height the same, which suits you. Make sure that you do only such asanas, in which the pain in your back and neck does not start. Once you have done the asana, rest your hands on the ground for some time
