Boy aged 12 hailing from Kerala’s Choolur passed away Sunday morning in Kozhikode. The boy was having symptoms similar to Nipah Virus.
The boy was admitted to the hospital on September ,01 due to deterioration in condition. The sample were sent to Pune National Institute of Virology, which on thorough examination confirmed the presence of the Nipah virus.
The Kerela State Government called for an emergency meeting of health officials over the concern of this new case of different virus. Kerela is right now worst affected state as far as Corona Cases are concerned. In such a situation, the outbreak of another virus risks to make the condition more serious.Kerela had not yet emerged from the second wave of Corona that Nipah also knocked.
The central government also sent its team to Kerela to take stock of the situation as well as provide possible technical assistance.
Health Minister Veena Joge has said that the there are no symptoms in any of the members of family of boy and the whole family is under strict surveillance.The state government is ready with an action plan.
However the the big unanswered questions are
It remains to be seen what action the state government will take?
How will the state government prevent Nipah? What will be the role of the central government?
